North Carolina Wesleyan Baseball Defeats Emory & Henry, 5-0, To Win Weekend Series

ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – The North Carolina Wesleyan College Baseball Team (2-4) picked up a 5-0 win over Emory & Henry College (1-2) Sunday afternoon, winning the weekend series.

The Battling Bishops got a run in the bottom of the second inning and broke the game open in the third with a pair of runs. NCWC would add insurance runs in the fifth and sixth frames for the 5-0 margin.

Emory & Henry managed just six hits on the day and were led by senior centerfielder Eric Houff (Blacksburg, Va.) as he went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Justin DiSanto was two-for-four on the day with two runs scored and a RBI. Jake Alexander was three-for-four at the plate as he scored and drove in a run.

N.C. Wesleyan's Hatteras Brooks picked up the win on the mound as he threw six innings with just five hits, striking out four in the process. Ciro Norzagaray earned the save, pitching three innings of relief with just one hit and three strikeouts.

Emory & Henry senior Will Dingus (Powhatan, Va.) went five innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs, as he fell to 0-1 on the year.

E&H will travel to Lookout Mountain, Ga., on Friday for the first of a three-game series with Covenant College.
