FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Ty Hill has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time in since March 4, 2013 that a Wasp pitcher has received weekly league honors.
Hill led Emory & Henry to a 4-1 win in the second game of its doubleheader Saturday over Berry. The sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., went all seven innings allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four. Twelve of the batters he retired came on groundouts, compared to just three fly-ball outs.
Last season, Matthew McInaw (Honey Brook, Pa.) was picked as pitcher of the week after throwing seven scoreless innings allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out four in E&H's 10-0 win over Eastern Mennonite.
With their two early week games postponed due to poor field conditions, the Wasps' (1-2) next contest will be Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Tennessee Temple University. The game will be the first of a three-game series with the Crusaders.
