LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Covenant College Baseball Team (1-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to propel itself to a 7-2 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (0-1) Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry got on the board in the top of the first with senior second baseman Hunter Jeffries (Hickory, N.C.) scoring on a throwing error, but Covenant answered in the bottom of the frame with a pair of runs.
- The Scots added three in the fourth frame highlighted by a two-run shot to left field by Devin Cerrato to go up 5-1.
- After Covenant extended its lead to 6-1 in the sixth, E&H got a run back when sophomore third baseman Eli Straw (Radford, Va.) scored on a wild pitch in the eighth.
- The bottom of the eighth saw the Scots cap the scoring with a RBI triple by Forrest Hunter.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Jeffries and Straw provided the runs for the Wasps as Straw went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
- Junior Zach Smith (Powder Springs, Ga.) drew a pair of walks while junior first baseman Carson Bryant (Hickory, N.C.) and sophomore catcher Connor Stevenson (Stephens City, Va.) were each hit by a pitch twice.
- Sophomore Logan Forster (Christiansburg, Va.) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits with two strikeouts in four innings pitched. Freshman Toby Robson (Blythewood, S.C.) pitched four innings of relief for the Wasps.
Covenant Individual Leaders
- Alex Kerr led the way with a 3-for-3 day at the plate scoring once while Cerrato drove in a pair with his fourth-inning home run.
- Taylor Bloye and Luke Harvey each had a run, a hit and a walk in the game.
- Matt Reitz picked up the win, allowing just one unearned run on one hit with six strikeouts in six innings of work. Kyle Phillips picked up the three-inning save.
