FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Baseball Team has been picked to finish eighth this year in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season, ODAC officials announced Thursday. The poll is voted on by the head coaches of the league's baseball programs.

Under the direction of Head Coach Trey McCall, E&H earns its best spot in the preseason vote in over 10 years. The Wasps are primed to make a run this season with depth in the field and in pitching. Emory & Henry returns seven starters who are position players and boasts a bullpen of 16 pitchers.

Shenandoah University is picked to take the league title with six first-place votes. Randolph-Macon College trails by the slimmest of margins one point back with five top nods. Roanoke College and Hampden-Sydney College round out the top four.

Emory & Henry will begin the 2018 season this weekend with a three-game series at Berry College in Mount Berry, Georgia. The Wasps are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday with a single game on Sunday, but the forecast for rain in Northwest Georgia may cause the series to be altered.

E&H will play its first home games on Saturday, February 23 against Mt. Aloysius College. The first ODAC games for the Wasps are set as a home doubleheader against Randolph-Macon on Saturday, March 10.
