Ferrum Baseball Tops Emory & Henry, 7-0, Wednesday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Ferrum College Baseball Team (12-7, 5-2 ODAC) converted its long-time rivalry with Emory & Henry College (3-15, 0-5 ODAC) into an Old Dominion Athletic Conference showdown taking a 7-0 victory Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened
The Panthers got on the board with four runs in the top of the second. Drew Calohan hit a two-run double to get the scoring started while Grey Sherfey also had a RBI base hit in the frame.

FC added to its scoreline in the seventh with three runs for the final 7-0 margin. Calohan and Sherfey swapped places with Shefey driving in a pair and Calohan one with singles.

Emory & Henry had four hits during the game from seniors Andrew Francisco (Abingdon, Va.), Ben Sexton (Lebanon, Va.), Connor Stevenson (Stephens City, Va.) , and sophomore Jacob Zoller (Culpeper, Va.).

Calohan picked up the win for Ferrum pitching eight shutout innings with four hits and four strikeouts. E&H senior Zach Shepherd (Christiansburg, Va.) took the loss on the hill, pitching 5.1 innings with six runs on five hits and six strikeouts. Sophomore Jordan Smith (Bassett, Va.) pitched two no-hit innings to close the game with three strikeouts.

Emory & Henry will be back on the road Saturday when it visits Virginia Wesleyan University for an ODAC doubleheader at noon.
