Roanoke Baseball Tops Emory & Henry, 5-1, Tuesday Evening

SALEM, Va. – The Roanoke College Baseball Team (10-10, 7-1 ODAC) took a 4-0 lead through three innings on its way to a 5-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win against Emory & Henry College (3-18, 0-8 ODAC) Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
Cale Agee put the Maroons on the board in the bottom of the second with a two-run base hit and used a double in the third to extend the lead to 4-0.

Emory & Henry broke into the scoring column on a double to left field by sophomore first baseman Joe Tolone (Concord, N.C.), driving in senior right fielder Ben Sexton (Lebanon, Va.) for a 4-1 score. Roanoke responded for the final run as Agee struck again, this time with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth.

Connor Chiulli picked up the victory for RC, allowing one unearned run on three hits in five innings pitched, striking out seven. E&H senior Zach Shepherd (Christiansburg, Va.) suffered the loss, permitting four runs on four hits in two-plus innings of work.

Emory & Henry will host the University of Lynchburg in an ODAC doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
