How It Happened
The Pioneers jumped ahead in the top of the first inning on the back of four runs, three hits and a pair of errors. E&H responded in the bottom of the second. Junior first baseman Jacob Bebber (Taylorsville, N.C.) reached on a fielder's choice and senior designated hitter Caeden Howell (Roaring River, N.C.) drilled a single to right-center field. Junior outfielder Khadeem Lewis (Chesterfield, Va.) laced a two-RBI double into the left-center gap to cut the deficit in half. Senior outfielder Triston Hensley (Covington, Va.) followed with a two-run bomb, his second of the year, to tie things up at 4-4 after two innings.

Tusculum tacked on one run in the third and two more in the fourth to push its lead back out to 7-4. The Wasps had an answer in the bottom of the fifth. Junior third baseman Steven Smith (Salisbury, N.C.) and senior shortstop Jared Foley (Sparta, N.C.) each drew a walk and sophomore catcher Garrison Bullock (Concord, N.C.) launched his team-leading eighth long ball of the season to draw the game all square once more at 7-7 through five innings of play.

The visitors would not go quietly as they added one run in the top of the seventh and two insurance runs in the top of the ninth to take the 10-7 victory. Jake McKenna earned the win on the mound for TU as he allowed three runs on one hit over three innings while striking out eight batters. Junior righty Nickolas Kalafut (Santa Cruz, Calif.) was saddled with the loss for the Wasps after allowing two runs and six hits in 3 ⅓ innings of work while fanning five Pioneers. Bullock paced the E&H offense with three RBIs while Lewis and Hensley each drove in a pair of runs. Foley had a pair of base knocks to extend his hitting streak to 21 games.
