Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth At Maryville Invitational

MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams competed at the Maryville Invitational hosted by Maryville (Tenn.) College on Saturday. The E&H men finished sixth out of eight teams in the race.

Senior Kéran Billaud (Dublin, Va.) covered the 8K course in 29:20 to finish eighth overall for the Wasps. Junior Matthew Williams (Stuart, Va.) finished 19th overall (31:29) while sophomore Cole Conley (Floyd, Va.) recorded a 21st-place finish (31:45).

Tusculum College’s David Cooper took medalist honors, running a 27:47 while Covenant College placed five runners in the top 15 to take home the team title.

On the women’s side, E&H was led by sophomore Kaitlyn Phibbs (Saltville, Va.), who finished 23rd overall. Carson-Newman College won the team title, placing their top seven runners in the top 10. The Lady Eagles were led by Hannah Reese, who won the race with a time of 25:47.

Emory & Henry will host the annual Wasper 5K Fun Run on Saturday, October 15 at 8:00 a.m. on the E&H campus. The Wasps will next face intercollegiate competition at the 2011 Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships, to be held at Claytor Nature Study Center on Saturday, October 29.
