Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Takes Second In Season-Opening Show Sunday At Home

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team got the 2021-22 season underway with a reserve champion finish Sunday at the Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center.

The Basics
TEAM PLACE – 2nd/5  
LOCATION – Bristol, Virginia
VENUE – Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center

First Level
Junior Emily Esposito (Virginia Beach, Va.) was the reserve champion with a score of 69.429%+, edging teammate Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) on a tiebreaker.

Upper Training Level
Senior Sofia Inchausti (Bloomsbury, N.J.) won the level on a ride of 71.724% while junior Sydney Fryman (Oxford, N.C.) was third (68.966%).

Lower Training Level
Senior Makalyn Williams (Granville, Ohio) took third with a score of 68.462% as freshman Kailey Levin (Cardiff, Calif.) was fourth in the test, scoring a 67.115%.

Introductory Level
Junior Kinsey Shankles (Mascot, Tenn.) won the level as an individual with a score of 66.533% as senior Becca Pagnini (Beaverdam, Va.) was third (64.688%).

The Awards
The University of Virginia was the high-point team, winning two tests and scoring 19 points while E&H was second with 15 points.

Inchausti was named the High-Point Rider of the Day for her performance in Upper Training while Virginia's Taya Lorenz grabbed reserve high-point rider of the day accolades for her runner-up finish in Upper Training.

Dressage Seat Equitation
In first level, freshman Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) was third, freshman Nina Mostofo (Phoenix, Ariz.) was fourth and freshman Leonhard Zenneck (Grünwald, GERMANY) was fifth.

Upper Training Level DSE saw freshman Sabrina Long (Ashburn, Va.) pick up the win while freshman Amelia Moore (Klamath Falls, Ore.) was fifth. In Lower Training, freshman Meaghan Croteau (Sparks, Md.) was first, freshman Lina Prillaman (Salem, Va.) was second and sophomore Carl Heath (Roanoke, Va.) was fourth.

Introductory was split into two divisions with Shankles winning and freshman Brianna Wagner (La Vernia, Texas) taking second while Pagnini was second and freshman Elizabeth Mudlaff (Chevy Chase, Md.) was third.

Emory & Henry's next IDA show is set for Sunday, October 17 at Virginia Tech.
