Intermont Equestrian IHSA Competes In UNC Greensboro Doubleheader Over The Weekend

RANDLEMAN, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team opened the spring portion of its season over the weekend, competing at UNC Greensboro. The Wasps took team champion honors on Saturday and were third on Sunday.

The Basics

Saturday
- Senior Abby McCoy (Cogan Station, Pa.) was second in Open Over Fences and third in Open on the Flat while senior Josie Sumner (Hampshire, Ill.) won Open on the Flat.
- Senior Madelyn Lowe (Red Lion, Pa.) was second in Intermediate Over Fences as senior Emilie Fink (Jamesport, N.Y.) and senior Hayden Wilkes (Shamong, N.J.) were fourth and fifth, respectively at Intermediate Flat.
- In Limit Over Fences, freshman Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) picked up the win with junior Emily Seaver (Jonesborough, Tenn.) taking second.
- Senior Becca Pagnini (Beaverdam, Va.) won her class of Limit on the Flat while senior Sofia Inchausti (Bloomsbury, N.J.) and freshman Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) were both second.
- In Novice, junior Holly Orfield (Johnson City, Tenn.) and freshman Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) were both first as sophomore Alex Osborne (Charlottesville, Va.) was third.
- Freshman Laney Stogdale (New Hope, Va.) was second in Introductory.
- Emory & Henry was the high-point team while High Point University claimed reserve high-point team honors.

Sunday
- McCoy was second in Open Fences and fourth on the Flat while Wilkes was third in her first showing at Open Flat.
- Freshman Caroline Cardoza (Glencoe, Ill.) took third in Intermediate on the Flat with Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) finishing fourth in both Intermediate Fences and Flat.
- Limit Over Fences saw junior Madison Mozingo (High Point, N.C.) finish third and freshman Caroline Chichester (Blythewood, S.C.) fourth.
- Freshman Maddie Anderson (Fort Myers, Fla.) won her class in Limit Flat as freshman Sam Nelson (Taylors, S.C.) was second and Chichester was third.
- In Novice, Orfield was first with junior Amelia Bowen (Wytheville, Va.) taking third.
- Stogdale notched a third-place finish in Introductory.
- UNC Greensboro was the first place team while High Point was second and E&H was third.

- E&H will next compete in an IDA show at home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
