Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Competes At Zone 4-Region 5 Finals Sunday

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team saw five of its riders earn spots in the Zone 4 Finals Sunday at the Zone 4-Region 5 Finals. The show was held at the Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center.

The Basics
LOCATION – Bristol, Virginia

The Results
- Senior Abby McCoy (Cogan Station, Pa.) won the region championship at Open Equitation Over Fences and the reserve champion in Open on the Flat.
- In Intermediate on the Flat, senior Hayden Wilkes (Shamong, N.J.) was the champion while senior Josie Sumner (Hampshire, Ill.) took third.
- Senior Emilie Fink (Jamesport, N.Y.) took second in Intermediate Over Fences and was sixth In Limit on the Flat. Senior Makalyn Williams (Granville, Ohio) won the Limit Flat class while senior Sofia Inchausti (Bloomsbury, N.J.) was the runner-up.
- In Novice competition, senior Daniella Lima (Clemmons, N.C.) placed fifth.

Advancing To Zones
- By virtue of its Zone 4-Region 5 regular season title, Emory & Henry will compete as a team at the Zone 4 Championship for a spot at the IHSA National Championship.
- In addition to competing in both Open Over Fences and Open Flat, McCoy will be the Z4-R5 rider for the Cacchione Cup, which seeks to find the top IHSA rider in the country.
- Wilkes will compete in Intermediate Flat while Inchausti and Williams have qualified for Limit on the Flat.

Next Up
- Intermont Equestrian will next compete at the Zone 4 Finals on Saturday, April 9. St. Andrews University will serve as the host.
