Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Wins Region H Championship Saturday At Home

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team scored a perfect 21 points as it won its 21st Region H Championship on Saturday at home. The Wasps have won every regional title since the founding of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association in the 2001-02 academic year.  

The Basics
TEAM PLACE – 1st/4
LOCATION – Bristol, Virginia
VENUE – Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center

First Level
Sophomore Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) picked up a win to open the day with a score of 67.639%. Junior Emily Esposito (Virginia Beach, Va.) was third on a ride of 63.056%.

Upper Training Level
Senior Makalyn Williams (Granville, Ohio) won her first test at Upper Training (67.241%).

Introductory Level
Senior Becca Pagnini (Beaverdam, Va.) won the level, scoring a 70.000% with junior Kinsey Shankles (Mascot, Tenn.) finishing fourth (68.125%).

The Awards
Emory & Henry won the event with a perfect 21 points while the University of Virginia was the reserve champion team on 14 points.

Elizabeth Parker of Virginia Tech was named the High-Point Rider of the Day for her win at Lower Training while Virginia's Annalise Eaton earned Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day honors after finishing as the Lower Training runner-up.

Dressage Seat Equitation
In First Level, freshman Leonhard Zenneck (Grünwald, GERMANY) was first and freshman Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) was third.

Freshmen Lina Prillaman (Salem, Va.) and Meaghan Croteau (Sparks, Md.) both placed second in Lower Training.

Freshman Elizabeth Mudlaff (Chevy Chase, Md.) was the runner-up in Introductory as Shankles was fourth.

National Qualifiers
Shaw won the season-long championship at First Level while Inchausti and Williams were the champions at Upper and Lower Training, respectively. Each of these three riders have automatically qualified for individual day at the IDA National Championship.

Emory & Henry has a chance to send four additional riders to the national championship show as the "wild card" contenders consisting of the season reserve champions from each of the country's regions will be evaluated to complete the field. The "wild card" qualifiers will be announced by the IDA after all regions have completed their regular seasons.

E&H's riders that were Region H Reserve Champions are as follows: Pagnini (Introductory), Harry (First DSE), Prillaman (Lower DSE) and Mudlaff (Introductory DSE).

Emory & Henry will next compete at the IDA National Championship which will be held in Lexington, Virginia at the Virginia Horse Center from Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24.
