Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Wins Final Regular Season Show At Home Saturday

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team captured its fourth-straight regional championship on Saturday with a first-place finish at home. Additionally, the Wasps qualified three riders in three different classes for individual competition at regionals. The wasps earned eight blue ribbons out of fourteen rides.

The Results
- Open Competition saw freshman Derek Holt (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) take top honors at Open Equitation Over Fences and Junior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) earn a blue in Open on the Flaat.
- In Intermediate Competition, sophomore Liv Abbruzzi (Irmo, S.C.) won at Intermediate Over Fences while sophomore Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) was runner-up. Intermediate flat saw Sisson picked up a first while freshman Derek Holt (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) received fourth.
- Limit Competition saw sophomore Sierra Smith (Olathe, KS.) earned top honors followed by Senior Emily Seaver (Jonesborough, Tenn.) as runner-up in the division. Limit Flat saw freshman Reme Sharp (Strasburg, Va.) turn in a blue ribbon performance followed by sophomore Maddie Anderson (Fort Myers, Fla.) taking fourth.
- The Novice division saw both sophomore Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) and freshman Kristen Joyner (Jonesborough, Tenn.) receive first in their respective sections.
- Sophomore Thomas Carter (Asheville, N.C.) took second at Introductory Flat while Senior Brendan Blevins (Troutdale, Va.) received third.

Regional Qualifiers
- By virtue of its regular-season championship, E&H advances to the Zone 4 Championships in April, held by Goucher College.
- The following individuals have qualified for the Zone 4-Region 5 Championship:

     - Lindsay Shaw: Open on the Flat
     - Holly Orfield: Novice
     - Laney Stogdale: Introductory
