-- Region Champions -- Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Wins 21st Straight Region Title Sunday At Virginia Tech

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team won the Region H Championship for the 21st consecutive year, rounding out the regular season at Virginia Tech. The Wasps placed third out of four competing teams on the day, but their performance over the course of the year clinched the championship.

The Basics
TEAM PLACE –3rd/4
LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia
VENUE – Flanigan Stables

First Level
Junior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) took fourth in the level for the team with a score of 68%, and qualified for Nationals after securing top honors in the region for the year.

Upper Training Level
Senior Eleanor Boyle (Boyds, Md.) earned fifth place in the upper training division with a score of 70%. Senior Sydney Fryman (Oxford, N.C.) also secured a spot at Nationals, winning the region for the division.

Lower Training Level
Senior Emily Seaver (Jonesborough, Tenn.) took the top call with a score of 75%. We will see her at nationals, as she punched her ticket by winning the region.

Introductory Level
Junior Skyler Shaw (Orangeville, Pa.) notched a 67% to earn third for the team and won the region, she will also compete at nationals.

Dressage Seat Equitation
Freshman Derek Holt (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) was third at Virginia Tech, while sophomore Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) qualified for nationals winning the division for the region. The Upper Training competition saw junior Kiley McGuinness (West Chester, Pa.) earn second at Virginia Tech and in the region, also qualifying her to compete at nationals. Sophomore Amelia Moore (Klamath Falls, Ore.) earned fifth in the division. In Lower Training,  freshman Megan Conway (Chittenango, N.Y.) claimed her win in the region as sophomore Scout Curry (Carmel, Calif.) earned second, both earning their spot at the national competition. Introductory saw junior Belen Juarez-Solares (Charlotte, N.C.) fifth at Virginia Tech, but top call in the region also qualifying her for nationals. 

Up Next
Emory & Henry's IHSA Team travels to Goucher College to compete in Zones on Saturday as they attempt to punch their ticket back to IHSA Nationals to defend their title. The IDA team will attend Nationals April 21-23 in Lexington, Virginia, hosted by the Virginia Horse Center.
