Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Opens The Year With Two Shows At Virginia Tech

Intermont Equestrian IDA Team following a show at Virginia Tech.

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team opened the 2023-24 season with back-to-back podium finishes at Virginia Tech over the weekend.

Saturday's Basics
TEAM PLACE
– 2nd/4
LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia
VENUE – Flanigan Stables

First Level
Freshman Anna Norton (Charlotte, N.C) started her collegiate career with a third-place finish (68.93%) in the level individually while senior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) took fifth with a 67.27%.

Upper Training Level
Senior Eleanor Boyle (Boyds, Md.) claimed the victory with her ride, earning a 73.62% and Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day.

Lower Training Level
Senior Reme Sharp (Strasburg, Va.) started his season off with a bang, winning the division with a 70.76%, while junior Grace Reynen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had a strong showing her first time out with a 66.73% to earn her fifth individually.

Introductory Level
Sophomore Brenna Looney (Bridgewater, Va.) posted a fourth-place finish  with a 65.31% 

The Awards
Virginia Tech won the show with 18 points while the Wasps were Reserve High-Point Team, scoring a team total of 17 points.

Boyle was the Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day thanks to her win in Upper Training.

Dressage Seat Equitation
Junior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) was third at First Level.

In Lower Training, freshman Lacy Barlow (New Church, Va.) took second place.

Sophomore Elly Gurshpun (Henrico, Va.) placed first at the Introductory Level.

Sunday's Basics

First Level
Senior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) opened the day with a 69.84% to take first place.

Upper Training Level
Senior Kiley McGuinness (West Chester, Pa.) posted a 70% to win the division as an individual, while senior Eleanor Boyle (Boyds, Md.) scored a 69.65% for second.

Lower Training Level
Senior Reme Sharp (Strasburg, Va.) took fifth with a 66.73%.

Introductory Level
Sophomore Brenna Looney (Bridgewater, Va. ) posted a fifth-place finish with a 66.25%

The Awards
University of Virginia won the show as a team with 15 points while E&H was the Reserve High Point Team, scoring a team total of 14 points, again just one point out of the team victory.

Dressage Seat Equitation
Junior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) was fifth at First Level.

In Lower Training, freshman Lacy Barlow (New Church, Va. ) earned herself top honors with a first-place finish. 

Sophomore Elly Gurshpun (Henrico, Va.) placed second at the Introductory Level.
