MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team placed fifth at this year's Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Championships on Sunday. The Wasps have now finished in the top five at the IHSA National Show in each of the last four competitive seasons. Additionally, E&H had two individuals showing across three competitions.
The three-day show was held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina.
Team Competition
Junior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) was the reserve national champion in Open Over Fences and took 10th place in Open on the Flat.
Intermediate competition saw junior Kendall Madison (Westtown, N.Y.) earn a national champion finish on the Flat while junior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) was the reserve national champion Over Fences.
At Limit, junior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) and freshman Isabella Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) received honorable mention ribbons on the Flat and Over Fences, respectively.
Freshman Maeve Nickloes (Maryville, Tenn.) was fourth in Novice while freshman Kaleb Elswick (Big Rock, Va.) got an honorable mention at Introductory.
Individual Competition
Whitley was the Reserve National Champion in Novice while Pell placed seventh in Open on the Flat
USEF/Cacchione Cup
Pell took fifth in the Cacchione Cup which recognizes the top overall rider in the country.
