Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Wins Twice At Virginia Tech To Start The Season

Intermont Equestrian IDA Team following the show at Virginia Tech

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry University IDA Team opened the 2024-25 season with back-to-back wins at Virginia Tech over the weekend and claiming both High Point and Reserve High-Point Rider honors both days. 

Saturday's Basics
TEAM PLACE – 1st/4
LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia
VENUE – Flanigan Stables

First Level
Senior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) took first with 72.407%, which earned her High-Point Rider of the day. Freshman Rachel Apley (Alden, Mich.) made her collegiate debut, earning fourth place with a score of 67.963%. 

Upper Training Level
Earning Reserve High-Point Rider of the day, senior Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) scored 71.207% to win her division. 

Lower Training Level
Senior Meaghan Croteau (Sparks, Md.) started her season off strong with a 69.039% and a second-place finish. 

Introductory Level
Freshman Samantha Nappi (Bedford, Mass.) started her collegiate career posting a 67.510% and a second-place finish. 

The Awards
The Wasps won the show with 19 points, while Virginia Tech was the Reserve High-Point team, scoring a team total of 16 points. Harry was High Point Rider of the Day, while Williamson was Reserve High Point Rider of the Day.

Dressage Seat Equitation
Sophomore Anna Norton (Charlotte, N.C.) was second at First Level.

Upper Training saw Senior Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) bring home a blue.

Junior Elly Gurshpun (Henrico, Va.) took fourth place in Lower Training.

Sophomore Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.)  placed second at the Introductory Level in her first collegiate appearance.

LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia

First Level
Senior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) opened the day with a 64.09% to take fifth place.

Upper Training Level
Senior Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) put up a 69.828%, taking home another blue ribbon. 

Lower Training Level
Senior Meaghan Croteau (Sparks, Md.) posted a 70.962% to win her class and earn High Point Rider. 

Introductory Level
Freshman Samantha Nappi (Bedford, Mass.) put up a fight, earning 70.625% to win her division and earn  Reserve High Point Rider honors. Sophomore Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) received a 69.375% which landed her third place.

The Awards
The Wasps won again with 21 points, while Virginia Tech was the Reserve High-Point team, scoring a team total of 16 points. Croteau was High Point Rider of the Day, and Nappi was Reserve High Point Rider of the Day.

Dressage Seat Equitation
Sophomore Anna Norton (Charlotte, N.C.) earned another second at First Level.

The Upper Training division saw sophomore Cetari White-Anderson (Clatskanie, Ore.) snag second while senior Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) earned third, 

In Lower Training, junior Elly Gurshpun (Henrico, Va.) took second place.

Introductory closed out the weekend with sophomore Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) earning fourth place.
