Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Wins Twice At High Point Over The Weekend

Intermont Equestrian IHSA riders following 11/10 show at High Point.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry IHSA Team started the 2023-24 season with a double-header weekend, starting with back-to-back championships at High Point University. 

Saturday

The Basics
TEAM PLACE – 1st/5
LOCATION – High Point, North Carolina
VENUE – Fox Run Farm

The Results
- Senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) won at Open Equitation Over Fences and on the Flat.
- Freshman Ella Bramer (East Amherst, N.Y.) was first at Intermediate on the Flat and third over fences.
- In Limit, senior Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) was second on the flat and third over fences.
- Novice Flat competition saw senior Hannah Ferguson (Newport News, Va.) take home a blue, and Pre-Novice saw freshman Kella Clark (Newland, N.C.) earn second.
- Introductory competition saw freshman Elana Trejo (Rustburg, Va.) place second at her first IHSA competition.

The Awards
- Pell was the High-Point Rider of the Day leading Emory & Henry to high-point team honors.

The Results
- Senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) continued her winning weekend, taking home two more wins in Open Equitation Over Fences and on the Flat.
- Senior Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) began her senior campaign, earning the win the Intermediate Over Fences and on the Flat.
- Limit competition saw senior Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) follow in her teammates' footsteps and also win the flat and fence portions of her division
- Novice Flat competition saw senior Hannah Ferguson (Newport News, Va.) add another win to her resume, and Pre-Novice saw freshman Kella Clark (Newland, N.C.) earn third.
- The Introductory division saw freshman Elana Trejo (Rustburg, Va.) take home sixth.

The Awards
- Pell, Sisson, and Couperthwait were all tied point-wise for the day. The judge asked each of them a question to break the three-way tie, which saw Pell come out on top as High-Point Rider and Couperthwait earn the Reserve title.
