
BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry University IHSA Team captured back-to-back wins this weekend to continue the spring season, earning a total of 19 blue ribbons.

OPEN
-The day started over fences with senior Sara Bender (Camp Hill, Pa.) started the day off aboard Pilgrim, riding to second. She was followed by senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) who earned fourth aboard Kato, and freshman Alexander Manca di Villahermosa (Cagliari, Sardinia, ITALY) who was fifth with his draw Silver. The flat portion saw Pell ride Will to the win and Bender rode to third with her mount Grace.
INTERMEDIATE
-Senior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) started the over-fences portion off with a big win with her ride Kato. Senior Erin Ryan (Seven Valleys, Pa.) followed suit winning her section with Jeter, and senior Maddie Anderson (Fort Myers, Fla.) rode Izzy to third. The flat saw senior Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) ride Lucy to a blue, sophomore Olivia Del Pinal (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) rode Saint to second, and freshman Jessica McGrath (Farmingdale, N.Y.) follow right behind in third aboard London.
LIMIT
-The final fences section ended well for the Wasps. Freshman Lauren Scott (Otego, N.Y.) rode Tanner to the win. She was followed by Mia King (Bluff City, Tenn.) who was second with her ride Leo. Senior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) was second in her section aboard Althea. The flat saw senior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan) add another win to her daily tally with her draw Ernesto. She was followed by senior Grace Reynen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) who was second aboard Higgins. Senior Maddie Anderson (Fort Myers, Fla.) rode to third place in her section, riding Higgins
NOVICE
-The Wasps dominated both sections, with senior Hannah Ferguson (Newport News, Va.) winning hers riding Talisman, and sophomore Cetari White-Anderson (Clatskanie, Ore.) won hers, riding Fallon.
INTRODUCTORY
- The final flat section saw senior Ambrose Tisdale (Beulah, Colo.) ride Fiona to second place. Freshman Megan Cassell (Marion, Va.) finished fourth aboard Seal.
The Awards
- Smith was the Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day thanks to her wins over fences and on the flat.

- The Wasps took the top three spots over fences. Senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) was first on Iggy, senior Sara Bender (Camp Hill, Pa.) took second with Pilgrim, and senior Caroline Cardoza (Glencoe, Ill.) finished third aboard Kato. On the flat, Pell drew Lottie and rode to the win, Bender drew Cincy and placed fifth.
INTERMEDIATE
-Senior Erin Ryan (Seven Valleys, Pa.) was first over fences, drawing Jeter again. Senior Liv Abbruzzi (Irmo, S.C.) rode Silver to a win in the other section of fences, while sophomore Olivia Del Pinal (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) rode Izzy to second. The flat saw senior Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) Del Pinal both draw London and win their individual sections. Freshman Alexander Manca di Villahermosa (Cagliari, Sardinia, ITALY) rode Buzz to fourth.
LIMIT
- Freshman Caroline Hall (Bostic, N.C.) rode Talisman to a strong second place over fences. In section B, senior Caroline Chichester (Blythewood, S.C.) finished second aboard Tarragom and sophomore Caylee Ostendorf (Goldsboro, N.C.) rode Nico to sixth. The flat had three sections, and all three of the Wasps riders drew Ernesto. Seniors Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) and Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) finished first. Senior Maddie Anderson (Fort Myers, Fla.) finished second.
NOVICE
- Senior Hannah Ferguson (Newport News, Va.) continued her strong season finishing first riding Scout. Freshman Grace Stitzer (Ashland, Va.) also had a strong showing aboard Tanner, finishing first as well.
- The Pre-Novice section, sophomore Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) rode Talisman to third.
INTRODUCTORY
- Senior Ambrose Tisdale (Beulah, Colo.) finished first with her draw Fiona while freshman Megan Cassel (Marion, Va.) finished fourth aboard Imani.
