Intermont Equestrian Places Sixth At IHSA National Championships

Intermont Equestrian at E&H IHSA Team

MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry IHSA Team finished sixth over the weekend at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Championships. Additionally, E&H had four individuals showing across six competitions.

The three-day show was held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

Individual Competition
Senior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) was fourth in the Intermediate Over Fences while senior Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) finished fifth at Limit and senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) earned an honorable mention in Open.

In Flat competition, senior Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) came in eighth at Limit as Harry was 10th in Intermediate.

Team Competition
Senior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) got the team event started on Friday with an honorable mention in Limit on the Flat.

On Saturday, Gurley earned the Wasps full points in Intermediate Over Fences as the national champion while Whitley was third in Limit Over Fences. Saturday also had a pair of Flat classes as senior Ambrose Tisdel (Beulah, Colo.) finished eighth at Introductory and sophomore Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) earned an honorable mention at Novice.

Competition on Sunday had Gurley place seventh in Intermediate on the Flat. Pell was sixth in Open on the Flat and took honorable mention in Open Over Fences.

USEF/Cacchione Cup
Pell was the Reserve National Champion in the Cacchione Cup which recognizes the top overall rider in the country.
