Stan Hodgin Joins E&H Football As New Offensive Coordinator

EMORY, Va.Stan Hodgin has been selected as the new Offensive Coordinator for the Emory & Henry College Football Team, Head Coach Dan Montgomery  announced today. Hodgin joins the Wasps after spending last season as an assistant coach at Averett University.

"We are fortunate to have Stan on our staff," said Montgomery. "He is a great coach, very knowledgeable and a great thinker. He's been a successful high school coach and our players and coaches will be blessed to work with him. I saw him coach at our football camp in June and could tell right away that he is a good teacher."

Prior to coaching at Averett, Hodgin served as the Head Coach at Halifax County High School in South Boston, Va., for five seasons. His teams led the state in several special teams categories and twice reached the Virginia State Playoffs.

Hodgin got his start in coaching at his alma mater, Person County High School in Roxboro, N.C., where he coached from 1988 to 2002. Over his career, more than 50 of his players have gone on to play college football, and the teams he has coached have had a .720 win percentage with six conference championships.

A scholar of the game, Hodgin has attended countless coaching clinics, college spring practices and NFL training camps including the University of Texas, West Virginia University the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to become a part of family at here at Emory & Henry," said Hodgin. "I believe this is a great opportunity for my family and for me as a football coach, and I'm excited to be here."

Hodgin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education from Carson-Newman College in 1988. He was a four-year member of the C-N football team and won NAIA National Championships in 1984 and 1986. As a junior and a senior, Hodgin served as a Student Assistant under Head Coach Ken Sparks, assisting with the quarterbacks receivers and coordinating the scout team offense.

Hodgin and his wife, Laurie, have four daughters: Ashley, Zoe, Kasey and Delaney.
