Emory & Henry Football Begins 2012 Fall Practice Over The Weekend

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Football Team is in the full swing of camp, holding its first full-squad practice on Sunday afternoon. More than 160 players reported to campus on Thursday, where they had their first team meetings and were outfitted with their equipment for the year.

Friday and Saturday saw the first practices, with the team splitting into two groups practicing for two hours each day. Both practice groups had a mixture of returners and newcomers and focused on review and installation of new plays and techniques. Mornings had on-field walk-through sessions for the offense and defense while special teams meetings occurred prior to the main afternoon practices. Full-team meetings and position meetings followed dinner.

On Sunday, the team attended a special morning service at the Emory Memorial Chapel and held its first full-squad practice during the afternoon. Evening meetings were continued and a daily player-led devotion program was instituted with the conclusion of the first weekend of camp.

The Wasps will continue their preseason preparation this week. The next 10 days will feature two-a-day practices and weight room sessions as well as the split-squad and full-team practices of the past three days. Daily team and position meetings will also continue through the start of fall classes, which will commence on Tuesday, August 21.

Emory & Henry will begin the 2012 season on Saturday, September 1 when it travels to Ferrum College to take on the Panthers. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. The Wasps will open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m., against the Methodist University Monarchs.
