Emory & Henry Football Sees Two Earn Roanoke Times All-State Honors

ROANOKE, Va. – Two players from the Emory & Henry College Football Team have been named to the 2012 Roanoke Times All-State College Division Team.

Junior defensive end Scott Hill (Jefferson, Ga.) and junior defensive back DeMikael Burse (Charlotte, N.C.) were selected to the All-State Second Team by the Roanoke Times sports staff, a team comprised of NCAA Division II, III and NAIA squads.

Both players add All-State Honors to their resume after being chosen as Second-Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference by the ODAC's eight head coaches.

Hill was sixth on the team in tackles (50) and made four tackles for loss including 2.5 sacks. He also broke up two passes and had a pair of quarterback hurries in addition to a recovered fumble.

Burse made 51 stops on the year, good for fifth on the team, with 34 coming as unassisted tackles. He broke up a league-high 13 passes and picked off two more, returning them for a total of 72 yards, and had two forced fumbles.

As a team, Emory & Henry finished 6-4 on the year, its first winning season since 2009. The Wasps posted a 3-4 record in ODAC play, finishing sixth in the league.
