Emory & Henry’s Kyle Boden Named To D3football.com Team Of The Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Emory & Henry College senior quarterback Kyle Boden has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware, D3football.com officials announced Wednesday. Boden wins the award after being named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native and Karns High School graduate, is the first E&H player to earn national weekly honors since Caleb Jennings was selected to the team in Week 1 of the 2010 season.

Boden led Emory & Henry to a 61-22 walloping of Methodist University on Saturday afternoon as he was accountable for 38 points on the day. The 61 points was the most scored under Head Coach Don Montgomery and the most since E&H put up a 61-7 showing against Maryville (Tenn.) College in the 1990 season.

The Academic All-America® Second-Teamer and Rhodes Scholar nominee threw for 382 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for 24 yards and another score while adding a two-point conversion on the ground. Five passing touchdowns ties for third-most in a game by a Wasp quarterback and the 382 passing yards and 406 yards of total offense both rank fourth all-time in E&H's record books for a one-game performance.

Boden was the definition of efficiency as he completed 29-of-31 passes for a 93.5 completion percentage. That mark was not only good for a school record, but also bested the ODAC and NCAA Division III marks. His passer rating also came in at 243.83 for the contest and currently sits at 198.4 for the season.

Emory & Henry (3-0) is idle this week and will next take the field on Saturday, October 5 when it travels to Ashland, Va. for an ODAC matchup with Randolph-Macon College. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
