Kyle Boden and Zeb Rhodes Named Academic All-District By CoSIDA

AUSTIN, Texas – Emory & Henry College has seen two of its football players named to 2013 NCAA Division III Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District V Team, CoSIDA officials announced Thursday. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Senior quarterback Kyle Boden (Knoxville, Tenn.) and senior offensive lineman Zeb Rhodes (Marion, Va.) have been selected to the Academic All-District First Team, and are now eligible for Academic All-America® honors. The pair are two of seven players from Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools represented. Boden is going for his second-straight Academic All-America nod as he was selected to the Second Team in 2012.

Boden, a graduate of Karns High School, has led the E&H offense for the past three seasons. He has thrown for 2,041 yards on the year, and has eclipsed the 2000-yard mark all three seasons, first-ever Wasp do so. Boden has connected with receivers on 67.7 percent (182-of-269) of his attempts and has tallied 15 touchdowns with just six interceptions for a 145.3 passer rating. Boden has thrown for over 250 yards four times this season including a season-high 382 yards against Methodist with five touchdowns. Boden is a 3.985 student, majoring in chemistry and biology.

Rhodes is a graduate of Marion Senior High School and has started every game this season at right guard. The Marion, Va. native has helped the Wasps average 387.9 yards of total offense per game and 27.5 points per contest. On 289 pass plays on the year, E&H has been sacked only 12 times. As an individual, Rhodes has graded out at an average of 90 percent for the year. Rhodes is majoring in Biology and holds a 3.53 grade point average.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America® program has recognized student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom for over 50 years. CoSIDA members nominate and vote in selection of Academic All-District and All-America performers in 12 sport categories across all divisions of college athletics.
