Emory & Henry Football Sees Nine Named To All-ODAC Teams

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Football Team has seen eight of its players named to the 2013 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Tuesday afternoon. The teams were released in conjunction with the close of the 2013 Regular Season and the annual post-season league head coaches' meeting.

The Wasps placed three players on the All-ODAC Second Team while six players earned third-team accolades. Senior quarterback Kyle Boden (Knoxville, Tenn.) was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete for a second-straight year.

On the All-ODAC Second Team for E&H are junior offensive lineman Isaac Bowman (Gray, Tenn.), senior defensive lineman Cole Beyeler (Stuarts Draft, Va.) and junior linebacker Paul Forney (Newton, N.C.). Forney earns all-league honors in back-to-back seasons and led the Wasps with 98 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles.

The Emory & Henry offense saw four players on the third team led by junior running back Joe Vaughn (Gate City, Va.), who had 617 yards averaging 4.2 yards per carry, earning All-ODAC honors for a second year. Boden threw for 2531 yards and 21 touchdowns, completing 66.2 percent of his passes (217-for-328). Junior wide receiver Lucas Kirby (Covington, Va.) and senior offensive lineman Ryan Ferrell (Matthews, N.C.) also earned third-team honors.

Senior defensive back DeMikael Burse (Charlotte, N.C.) garnered all-league laurels for a second season as he and sophomore defensive back Ryan Byrd (Grottoes, Va.) anchored the corners of the defensive backfield for the Wasps this season.

Emory & Henry posted a 5-5 record this season for the third time in the past four years with a 2-4 mark in ODAC play, finishing seventh. The program is also in search of its next head coach, as Don Montgomery resigned on Monday after nine years leading the Wasps.
