Emory & Henry Football Sees Two Named To D3football.com All-South Region Third Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Two players from the Emory & Henry College Football Team have been selected to the D3football.com All-South Region Third Team, D3football.com officials announced Monday. Junior corner Tre'von Lightfoot (Big Island, Va.) and freshman placekicker Skyler Simcox (Abingdon, Va.) add the all-region honor to their All-ODAC First Team selection from last month.

It is the first time since the 2011 season that Emory & Henry has been represented on the D3football.com All-South Region Team and is the first time since 2009 that two Wasps have received all-region laurels from the publication.

Lightfoot started all 10 games for E&H this year, tallying 49 tackles. He led the league and was ninth in NCAA Division III with 17 passes defended. Four of the passes defended came as interceptions while the other 13 were breakups. Lightfoot also had two tackles for a loss and blocked a kick on the year. Lightfoot was named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week in Week Four after an interception and four-tackle performance in the Wasps' 27-24 win over East Tennessee State. He started off the year with two interceptions against Ferrum and had a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown against Catholic, which sealed the victory for E&H.

Simcox stepped onto the scene as Emory & Henry's placekicker, going 38-for-40 on extra points and connecting on nine of his 11 field goal attempts. His 65 points led the team in scoring and was third among kickers in the ODAC. Simcox hit a pair of 48-yard field goals in E&H's victory over ETSU, earning himself ODAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The 48-yard field goals tied for the longest in the ODAC era of E&H football and were the longest by a Wasp kicker since 1976. Simcox also tied the school record with three field goals in the team's win against Catholic.

With the all-region accolades, both Lightfoot and Simcox are now eligible to receive All-American honors from D3football.com. Click HERE view the full All-Region Teams.
