Emory & Henry’s Skyler Simcox Earns State Honor From The Touchdown Club Of Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. – Emory & Henry College freshman Skyler Simcox has been named the Touchdown Club of Richmond's Division II, III/NAIA Specialist of the Year. Simcox received the award at the 2015 Dudley/Lanier Award Banquet on Wednesday evening at the Hilton Richmond Hotel and Spa.

The Abingdon, Virginia native stepped onto the scene as Emory & Henry's placekicker, going 38-for-40 on extra points and connecting on nine of his 11 field goal attempts. His 65 points led the team in scoring and was third among kickers in the ODAC. Simcox hit a pair of 48-yard field goals in E&H's victory over ETSU, earning himself ODAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The 48-yard field goals tied for the longest in the ODAC era of E&H football and were the longest by a Wasp kicker since 1976. Simcox also tied the school record with three field goals in the team's win against Catholic.

Simcox, who has already earned All-ODAC First Team and D3football.com All-South Region Third Team accolades, is one of the Touchdown Club of Richmond's seven "college division" player of the year honorees. Other awards were given to an Offensive and Defensive Back, Offensive and Defensive Lineman, Linebacker and Receiver.

Running back Kyree Koonce and defensive back Sidney Henry of Hampden-Sydney College and offensive lineman Michael Sala of Washington and Lee University were the other ODAC players to be honored with awards from the Touchdown Club.
