Emory & Henry Football Sees Seven Named To All-State Teams

ROANOKE/FERRUM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Football Team has seen seven of its players named all-state by The Roanoke Times and the Virginia Sports Information Directors. The Wasps completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record and a 4-3 mark in the ODAC, tying them for third place in the standings.

Six different players were honored by The Roanoke Times. Junior offensive lineman McFarland Murph (West Columbia, S.C.), junior corner Tre'von Lightfoot (Big Island, Va.) and freshman placekicker Skyler Simcox (Abingdon, Va.) were named to the first team. Second-team award winners for E&H include senior offensive lineman Paul Cozens (Richmond, Va.), senior safety Ryan Byrd (Grottoes, Va.) and senior punter Chris Bingham (Norcross, Ga.).

On the VaSID All-State Team, Byrd, Murph, Lightfoot and Simcox were also recognized as first-teamers. Senior defensive tackle Victor Montalbano (Evington, Va.) was tabbed as Second-Team All-State by VaSID as well.

Simcox adds all-state accolades to All-ODAC First Team, D3football.com All-South Region Third Team and Touchdown Club of Richmond Specialist of the Year honors. Lightfoot was selected as an All-ODAC First-Teamer and an All-South Region Third-Teamer as well.
