EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College Head Football Coach Curt Newsome is pleased to announce as Timmy Chang as an Assistant Football Coach. Chang will also serve as the program's Offensive Coordinator and becomes E&H's second-straight Offensive Coordinator to have played for the University of Hawai'i.
"I am very excited to have someone of Timmy's caliber as our next offensive coordinator," commented Newsome. "He brings experience as a coordinator and is proven as a great quarterback in his own right. We will continue what we are doing, but we have new things to add. But most importantly, I am happy to add another great person to our staff."
Chang comes to E&H after spending the previous two seasons at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. While with the Tigers, he served as both the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. He brought the run-and-shoot offense with him and led JSU to lead the Southwestern Athletic Conference in multiple offensive categories and achieved national rankings in passing yardage, completions, completion percentage and total offense.
Prior to Jackson State, Chang was an Offensive Assistant at Southern Methodist University under his collegiate head coach, June Jones in 2012 and 2013. He assisted in all aspects of the Mustangs' offense including practice plans and scouting reports, primarily focusing on the SMU quarterbacks.

Chang was a four-time All-Western Athletic Conference player at Hawai'i from 2000-2005. He completed 1,388 of his 2,436 career passes for a 57.0 completion percentage, amassing 17,072 passing yards, 16,910 yards of total offense and 117 touchdowns. He held the NCAA Division I record for passing yardage, total offense, total completions, total attempts and total plays, two of which still stand. He was the selected as the MVP of the 2003 Hawai'i Bowl and was the Co-MVP of the 2004 Hawai'i Bowl. Chang also was a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
After completing his collegiate career, Chang played professional football in the National Football League, Canadian Football League, and NFL Europe for four seasons. Chang retired from professional football in 2009 and returned to Hawai'i to complete his undergraduate degree in sports and fitness.
