MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Maryville (Tenn.) College Football Team (2-1) scored 14 points off five Emory & Henry College (1-2) turnovers Saturday en route to a 43-36 victory Saturday afternoon at Lloyd L. Thornton Stadium. The victory for the Scots marks back-to-back wins after the Wasps won the first three games when the long-time series was renewed in the 2012 season.

How It Happened
- Maryville got on the board on a 25-yard field goal by Ian Hubbs just 3:47 into the game.
- A 91-yard interception return by Ethan Williams put the Scots ahead by a 10-0 score with 9:01 to go in the first quarter.
- MC extended its lead to 17-0 with a two-yard run by Donaven Wise after a blocked punt gave the Scots the ball at the E&H two at the 6:54 mark of the first 15 minutes.
- Sophomore quarterback Dominic Dunnaville (Roanoke, Va.) put Emory & Henry on the board, 17-7, with a seven-yard scamper late in the quarter.
- Hubbs extended the Maryville lead to 20-7 with another field goal, this time a 43-yarder.
- On the Wasps' next drive, the Scots' Pierre Chadwick forced and recovered a fumble, returning it 48 yards to paydirt and a 27-7 advantage.
- After forcing a three-and-out, Maryville went back on the attack, as Nick Myers found Michael Smith with a 23-yard pass with 8:43 in the second quarter.
- Emory & Henry responded to make the score 34-14 on the next drive as junior quarterback Kevin Saxton (Monroe, N.C.) hit freshman wide receiver Derrick Yates (Abingdon, Va.) with a 22-yard touchdown for Yates' first career score.
- Maryville added another field goal by Hubbs, from 38-yards out, to push the advantage to 37-14 with 1:56 left before the intermission.
- The Wasps took the ensuing possession 90 yards in seven plays for Saxton to link up with sophomore Chris Gannon (Alexandria, Va.) for a 12-yard score and a 37-21 halftime margin.
- After a scoreless third quarter, MC got back on the board with a 29-yard catch by Logan Winders from Myers and a 43-21 lead.
- E&H took the next possession and drove 64-yards in nine plays for junior running back Isaiah Rodgers (Canton, Ga.) to plow seven yards for the score. Saxton found Yates with a pass to complete the two-point conversion and make the score 43-29.
- After forcing a punt, the Wasps streaked down the field 79 yards in 2:02, capped by a 41-yard touchdown by sophomore wideout Jesse Santiago (Yorktown, Va.) from Saxton to make the score 43-36 with 6:06 left to play.
- The squads traded punts for the next three drives and E&H found itself with the ball at its own one yardline with 1:41 on the clock. The Wasps could only manage three yards on the final drive, turning the ball over on downs to the Scots who knelt the clock to 0:00.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Saxton went 28-for-44 through the air, throwing for 342 yards and three touchdowns despite throwing two interceptions. The junior connected with 10 different receivers on the day.
- Santiago caught seven passes for 182 yards and a touchdown while Yates had five receptions for 62 yards and a score.
- Rodgers led the way with 93 rushing yards and a touchdown while Dunnaville added 30 yards on the ground and a score.
- Seals remained perfect on the year with four extra-points, running his tally to 13-for-13.
- Sophomore defensive end Davon Keith (Columbia, S.C.) led E&H with nine tackles (three for a loss), including two sacks for 18 yards, three quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.
- Sophomore defensive back Austin Oyler (Roanoke, Va.) made nine stops and a tackles for loss while sophomore defensive tackle Kash Jones (Gainesville, Ga.) added seven tackles.
Maryville Individual Leaders
- Elijah Chenier ran 14 times for 117 yards to lead all players.
- Myers was 20-for-35 passing for 175 yards and two touchdowns, linking up with 11 different players.
- Winders had three catches for 48 yards and a score while Smith caught three balls for 35 yards and a touchdown.
- Cedrick Brown had a game-high 12 tackles including 1.5 for a loss, a forced fumble and a pass break-up.
- Chadwick added 11 stops and two pass breakups to his 48 yard fumble return.
- Jordan Early also reached double digits in tackles with 10 stops while Ethan Williams had three tackles, three pass break-ups and two interceptions, one of which he returned 91 yards for a touchdown.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry held a 552-318 advantage in yards of total offense, leading both in the passing game (353-175) and the running game (199-143).
- The Wasps fell victim to five turnovers on the afternoon, with the Scots scoring 14 points off of E&H miscues. Emory & Henry won the turnover battle with three takeaways, scoring touchdowns on two of those possessions.
- E&H was six-for-18 (33%) on third down while Maryville converted just three-of-16 (19%) of its third-down tries.
- Emory & Henry was penalized nine times for 121 yards while Maryville's eight infractions cost 73 yards.
