BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Football Team (3-4, 2-2 ODAC) evened its Old Dominion Athletic Conference record at 2-2 with a 42-33 win over Bridgewater College (2-5, 1-3 ODAC) Saturday at the Jopson Athletic Complex.

How It Happened
- The Eagles put the first points on the board with a one-yard touchdown pass from Jay Scroggins to Warner Hunter at the 8:09 mark of the first quarter.
- Emory & Henry tied things up thanks to a 24-yard reception by senior wideout A.J. Hampton (Roanoke, Va.) from junior quarterback Kevin Saxton (Monroe, N.C.).
- A 35-yard interception return for a touchdown by sophomore defensive tackle Josh Fleenor (Christiansburg, Va.) with 14:07 in the second quarter gave the Wasps their first lead of the game.
- Brendon Maturey hit Rayvon Johnson with a 13-yard touchdown pass to tie the contest at 14-all on the next drive.
- E&H scored on its final two possessions of the half to take a 28-14 lead into the intermission. Sophomore running back Sam Wagner (Marion, Va.) scored on nine-yard carry and freshman wide receiver Derrick Yates (Abingdon, Va.) made it five-straight games with a touchdown as he hauled in a 31-yards pass from sophomore quarterback Dominic Dunnaville (Roanoke, Va.).
- With 10:14 in the third quarter, Anthony Rossi hit a 23-yard field goal for the Eagles to draw the score to 28-17.
- Wasp freshman running back Kendrick Kube (Culpeper, Va.) ran for a 28-yard score to extend the lead to 35-17 at the 4:30 mark of the third quarter.
- Bridgewater closed the gap to 35-33 with 5:42 left to play thanks to a pair of touchdown catches by Keith Jennings from Scroggins and a 30-yard field goal by Rossi.
- An interception by senior linebacker Rhasheen Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) set up a six-yard touchdown run by Dunnaville with 1:41 on the clock helped the Wasps clinch the 42-33 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Kube rushed nine times for 62 yards and a touchdown while junior Isaiah Rodgers (Canton, Ga.) had 58 yards on the ground.
- Dunnaville finished the day with 40 rushing yards and a touchdown and completed six of his 10 passes for 75 yards and a score. Saxton was just four-for-13 through the air for 55 yards but one of his four completions went as a touchdown to Hampton.
- Five different receivers caught passes led by sophomore Jesse Santiago (Yorktown, Va.) with four receptions for 35 yards.
- Sophomore defensive end Davon Keith (Columbia, S.C.) led all players with 14 tackles including six tackles for a loss, three sacks and four quarterback hurries.
- Senior linebacker Josh Compton (Richlands, Va.) picked up nine stops while Williams added eight tackles to his interception.
- Fleenor was one of four Wasps to make seven tackles on the day adding a 35-yard interception for a touchdown.
Bridgewater Individual Leaders
- Scroggins finished the day 23-for-41 for 242 yards and three touchdowns despite a pair of interceptions while Maturey was three-for-five for 25 yards and another score.
- The duo hit eight different receivers led by Johnson with eight catches for 111 yards and a score. Jennings had seven receptions for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
- Malivai Barker ran for 84 yards while Maturey scrambled for 35 yards.
- Davey Hardesty made eight tackles and broke up a pass while Tyler Miller finished with seven stops including one tackle for a loss.
A Deeper Look
- Bridgewater led the way in total offense with 426 yards to 323 for Emory & Henry, however the Eagles' two turnovers resulted in 14 points for the Wasps.
- E&H was just 4-for-13 on third down, but converted two-of-three fourth down attempts. BC was 11-for-22 on third down.
- The Wasps were penalized just two times on the day for 25 yards, a season-best after being flagged for over 110 yards in three of their first five contests.
- In addition to a pair of interceptions, E&H picked up nine tackles for loss, five of which went for sacks.
Notable
- Emory & Henry makes it three straight over Bridgewater and pushes the all-time series record to 30-12-1.
- The 42 points scored by Emory & Henry are the most this season, however the 323 yards of offense are the fewest accumulated by the Wasps.
- Over the past two weeks, E&H is +6 in turnover margin. The first five games of the year saw the Wasps at -7 on the turnover battle.
