BREVARD, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Football Team (1-1, 0-0 ODAC) scored 28 unanswered second-half points to defeat Brevard College (0-2) in a rout, 48-13, Saturday afternoon on the road. The Wasps rolled up 535 yards of total offense, including 332 on the ground, in the victory.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry struck first with a 27-yard field goal by sophomore Matt Seals (Rogersville, Tenn.).
- Brevard answered with a field goal of its own at the 3:19 mark of the first quarter as Joseph Calhoun converted from 41 yards out.
- E&H senior quarterback Kevin Saxton (Monroe, N.C.) hit sophomore wideout Derrick Yates (Abingdon, Va.) with an 18-yard pass for the first touchdown of the game with 13:39 to go before the half.
- Brevard tied the contest, 10-10, thanks to a 25-yard touchdown reception by Xavier Brown from O'Shay Carter.
- The Wasps added 10 more points in the second quarter as junior running back Sam Wagner (Marion, Va.) rumbled in from 11 yards out and Seals hit another field goal, this time a 20-yarder.
- Brevard made the halftime score 20-13 as Samuel Butikofer drilled a 46-yard kick going in the final minute.
- Coming out of the break, Emory & Henry fired on all cylinders with an efficient offense and smothering defense. Yates caught his second touchdown pass of the day in the third quarter, a 10-yarder from Saxton.
- The Wasps scored three rushing touchdowns in the fourth to seal the 48-13 win. Wagner had four-yard plunge while freshmen Brady Justice (Hurley, Va.) and Mikel Gamble (Alexandria, Va.) each notched their first collegiate scores, from two and 21 yards out, respectively.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Four different backs rushed for at least 50 yards led by Gamble's 88 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Justice has 63 yards and a score while senior running back Isaiah Rodgers (Canton, Ga.) had 50 yards and freshman quarterback Hunter Taylor (Summerville, S.C.) added 55 yards.
- Saxton threw for 168 yards on 16-of-27 passing while junior Dominic Dunnaville (Roanoke, Va.) threw for 35 yards and a score.
- Yates was the game's leading receiver with 11 catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Caleb Horton (Pilot Mountain, N.C.) had two receptions for 36 yards.
- Sophomore linebacker Harlan Faddis (Atlanta, Ga.) had six tackles and two tackles for loss while junior defensive lineman Da'von Keith (Columbia, S.C.) added six stops of his own including one behind the line of scrimmage and two hurries.
- Sophomore defensive back Jayden Rosenboro (Bristol, Tenn.) made three tackles and broke up three passes while junior Jaylyn Johnson (Roanoke, Va.) had five tackles of his own.
-Seals finished the game with six extra points and a pair of field goals.
Brevard Individual Leaders
- Jarkevius Hopkins ran for 79 yards to lead the Tornados' ground game as the only rusher to finish with positive yardage.
- Carter threw for 172 yards and one touchdown on 16-for-35 passing, hitting Bubba Craven six times for 71 yards.
- Brown's touchdown was one of four catches for a total of 45 yards.
- Jinsly Jhon led all players with 15 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, while Jason Nieradka added 12 stops. Tekhiyah Hollinger and Chedson Jean contributed 11 tackles each.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry led 535-245 on total offense, its 332 rushing yards the most since putting up 344 last year against Shenandoah University.
- The Wasps' 48 points are the most since hanging 54 markers on SU in the 2015 season, while the 35-point margin of victory is the biggest since 2015's season-opening 55-7 win over Ferrum College.
- Emory & Henry dominated possession, holding the ball for over 36 minutes. A 7-for-19 third-down conversion rate and 4-for-5 performance on fourth down kept the ball in the Wasps' hands.
- E&H racked up 32 first downs while BC only reached the line to gain 15 times.
