Emory & Henry Football Places 12 On The 2017 All-ODAC Teams

Emory & Henry All-ODAC Football Selections

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Football Team has seen 12 of its players named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Tuesday. The teams are voted on by the seven head coaches in the league following the completion of the regular season. The Wasps' dozen honorees included one first-team pick, eight all-league second-teamers and three who received third-team accolades. Additionally, four players earned recognition for a second year in a row.

E&H's only representation on the All-ODAC First Team was defensive lineman Josh Fleenor (Christiansburg, Va.). The junior led the squad with 13.5 tackles for loss, returned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown and broke up five other passes on the year. He was also third on the team in overall tackles with 57.

The second-team selections were split with five on the offense and three on the defense.

Representing the offense is senior running back Isaiah Rodgers (Canton, Ga.), junior offensive lineman Nathan Harris (Roanoke, Va.), junior tight end Brad Puccio (Murphy, N.C.), sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Weterrings (Glade Hill, Va.) and sophomore wide receiver Derrick Yates (Abingdon, Va.).

Rodgers led the Emory & Henry rushing attack with 833 yards on 132 carries and six touchdowns, averaging 6.3 yards per rush. Puccio caught 22 passes for 272 yards and two scores from his tight end position, while also proving himself as one of the best blocking tight ends in the league. Yates posted a team-best 60 catches for 903 yards and six touchdowns including a career-best 209 yards against Guilford. Harris and Wetterings led an offensive line that averaged 472 yards of total offense per game including 218 on the ground.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior defensive lineman Da'von Keith (Columbia, S.C.) and sophomore punter Garrett Morgan (Mechanicsville, Va.) earned their second all-league picks while senior linebacker Zack Manley (Tobaccoville, N.C.) was recognized for the first time.

Keith made 49 tackles on the year including 10.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks with his best game coming as a 10-stop, two tackle for loss performance at Shenandoah. Morgan averaged 37.8 yards per punt, putting 35 percent (15-of-42) of his kicks inside the 20 with only two touchbacks. Manley led the team in total tackles with 83, made nine stops behind the line, and added a blocked kick, a fumble recovery and a pass defended. Four times during the year he went reached double figures in tackles.

Emory & Henry's third team selections include senior offensive lineman Grayson Williams (Martin, Ga.), junior wide receiver Jesse Santiago (Yorktown, Va.) and junior defensive back Justin Banks (Coeburn, Va.).

Williams and Santiago make it back-to-back All-ODAC picks as Williams anchored the right side of the offensive line. Santiago made 52 receptions for 580 yards and five touchdowns, finishing second on the team in all three categories. Banks, the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5, finished second on the squad in total tackles (78), and added five tackles for loss, a fumble recovery for 27 yards and five passes defended.

Emory & Henry finished with a 3-7 overall record and a 1-5 mark in ODAC play this year. The Wasps will now await the release of the several all-state, all-region and All-America teams which coincide with the completion of the college football season.
