INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Emory & Henry College senior Isaiah Rodgers (Canton, Ga.) will be attending the 2018 NCAA Convention as one of 40 students in the NCAA Division III Student Immersion Program. The program, which was created in 2015 on the recommendation of the Division III Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, fully-funds students to attend the NCAA Convention, exposing them to the Division III membership and governance process.

Rodgers becomes the second Emory & Henry student-athlete to receive the Student Immersion Grant as Kevin Saxton attended the 2017 NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

"It is definitely very humbling and I feel very honored to be representing Emory & Henry at (the NCAA) Convention. It is a special opportunity for me and my family that I am very excited about," Rodgers commented.

The program will run the full length of the 2018 NCAA Convention from Wednesday, January 17 to Saturday, January 20 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The JW Marriott Indianapolis, Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and Westin Indianapolis will provide convention and meeting space for the event.

Rodgers, a four-year starting running back for the E&H football team and a 2017 All-ODAC Second-Team selection, added, "I feel that (this grant) will kick-start my career in what I want to do. My dad has always told me to align my actions with my thoughts and the results you want.  That along with many of the other lessons that he has taught me has helped to push me to be the best person that I can be."

For a third year, Division III is supporting 40 ethnic minority students to attend the NCAA Convention through the Program. The NCAA encourages institutions to nominate qualified ethnic minority students, preferably juniors or seniors, with a strong interest in a career in Division III athletics. In addition to the scheduled Division III programming, grant recipients will attend welcome and debrief meetings.  The goal is to build a pipeline which will diversify the administrative landscape in Division III.
