Donovan Pinnix Named ODAC Football Defensive Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College junior defensive back Donovan Pinnix has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It marks the second straight week that an E&H player has received weekly honors from the league office.

The Eden, North Carolina native and four-sport athlete for the Wasps led the way for the defensive front in the 47-14 win over Southern Virginia University Friday afternoon. He made a team-leading eight tackles including 2.5 tackles for a loss. Pinnix also posted a pair of sacks for a loss of 17 yards including one that resulted in a fumble.

Emory & Henry scored a touchdown on the possession resulting from the takeaway to go up 27-7 at the 7:02 mark in the third quarter. The touchdown was the second of three straight scores for the Wasps which broke open the 14-7 halftime score en route to the lopsided victory.

Pinnix currently leads the team in tackles (15), tackles for loss (4.5), sacks (4) and forced fumbles (2).

Emory & Henry (2-0, 2-0 ODAC) sits in a three-way tie for first place in the league and welcomes Guilford College (0-1, 0-1 ODAC) to Fred Selfe Stadium on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
