Emory & Henry Football Releases Schedule For 2024 Season

EMORY, Va. – With spring practice now underway, the Emory & Henry College Football Team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2024 season. Head Football Coach Curt Newsome will lead the Wasps on the gridiron for the 11th year and the program's third season as a member of the South Atlantic Conference. For the first time this fall, E&H will be eligible to earn a spot in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

During the 2023 season, Emory & Henry posted a 5-6 overall record with a 3-5 mark against league opponents for the second year in a row. The Wasps finished in fourth place in the Mountain Division and eighth overall after being picked 11th in the conference's preseason poll. Two of E&H's opponents were selected for the Division II Playoffs last year with Lenoir-Rhyne University reaching the national semifinals and finishing the season ranked No. 4 by the AFCA.

E&H opens the season on Saturday, August 31, hosting Glenville State College at Fred Selfe Stadium at 1:00 p.m. It will be the first-ever meeting between the Wasps and Pioneers.

Following a bye on September 7, the Wasps continue their three-game homestand to start the season hosting Bluefield State University on Saturday, September 14 (1 p.m.).

Emory & Henry opens South Atlantic Conference play as Barton College comes to town on Saturday, September 21 (1 p.m.) for the first-ever game between the two schools. The Wasps then visit Limestone University on Saturday, September 28.

Division II semifinalist Lenoir-Rhyne will be E&H's opponent on Saturday, October 5 (1 p.m.) as the Wasps celebrate their annual Homecoming weekend.

The next two weeks see Emory & Henry take to the road, visiting Tusculum University (Sat., Oct. 12) and Anderson University (Sat., Oct. 19). It will be the first matchup between E&H and AU as the Trojans are starting their program next season.

On Saturday, October 26, the Wasps welcome Carson-Newman University for a 1:00 p.m. showdown against the Eagles.

Emory & Henry makes the short trip into Western North Carolina for a date at Mars Hill University on Saturday, November 2.

Senior Day is set for Saturday, November 9 against the University of Virginia's College at Wise. The meeting between Wasps and Cavaliers will also serve as Southwest Virginia Bowl VII.

Emory & Henry is scheduled to visit Newberry College on Saturday, November 16 (1:00 p.m.). The Week 11 game against the Wolves could change based on the conference standings in order to place the top teams in each of the two divisions against one another in the SAC Championship game. Regardless, the Wasps will close out the season on the road.
