ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the third time in his career, Emory & Henry University junior kicker Trace Butcher (Dacula, Ga.) has been picked as the South Atlantic Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday. This year, the SAC Player of the Week is sponsored by WePlayed Sports.

This is the third time this season that an E&H player has earned Player of the Week honors from the league office, giving E&H an award winner in all three categories. Cam Peoples was selected as the offensive player of the week after defeating Glenville State University and Chendrick Cann was tabbed as the defensive player of the week following the victory over Barton College.

Butcher went 4-for-4 on extra points and hit a 43-yard field goal as the Wasps defeated No. 6 Lenoir-Rhyne University by a 31-20 score on Saturday. The field goal came at the 2:30 mark of the third quarter, keeping it a one-possession game after LR took a 17-7 lead.

Butcher is currently second on the team in scoring with 34 points. He has hit 22-of-23 of his extra-point attempts and is 4-for-4 on field goals with makes from 21, 36, 37 and 43 yards.

Emory & Henry (4-1, 2-1 SAC) will travel to face Tusculum University on Saturday. The contest will be played at Pioneer Field on the Tusculum campus.
