Emory & Henry Football Earns 15 Spots on All-South Atlantic Conference Teams

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After posting a breakout year and a 9-2 record on the way to a second-place finish in the South Atlantic Conference Mountain Division, the Emory & Henry University Football Team 14 of its players earn a total of 15 All-SAC honors. The awards are voted on by the coaches in the league and were released by the conference office on Thursday.

For a second year in a row, the all-league teams have been set to include one All-SAC Team, serving as the first team, and a pair of all-division teams recognizing co-second team performances. The Wasps' 15 all-league players were second only to SAC Champion Wingate University at 16.

Emory & Henry earned five spots on the All-SAC Team with three offensive and two defensive players recognized. The Wasps picked up a total of 10 spots on the All-Mountain Division Team, seeing 10 awards won by nine players.

On the All-SAC Offense, junior running back Jordan Jackson (Richmond, Va.) rushed for 1,036 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 4.7 yards per carry. Sophomore wide receiver Cam Abshire (Roanoke, Va.) caught 51 passes for a league-high 13 receiving touchdowns and 1,057 yards on his way to being named the SAC Statistical Champion in receiving yards per game (97.0). Junior offensive guard Deshaun Sharp (Spotsylvania, Va.) helped the Wasps to an average of 32.7 points and 380.3 yards of total offense per game.

The All-SAC defense saw senior Kaleb Lundy (Winston-Salem, N.C.) earn his second all-league award, moving up from a Mountain Division pick a year ago. Lundy finished tied for second on the team with 71 tackles, adding 5.5 tackles for loss, five pass break-ups and two forced fumbles. Junior Jarrell Harrison (Virginia Beach, Va.) posted 43 stops and had 15 passes defended between five interceptions and 10 break-ups.

Offensively on the All-Mountain Team, junior Cam Peoples (Reidsville, N.C.) made it back-to-back years with honors at two positions. He was again selected as a wide receiver, with 766 yards and seven touchdowns on a team-best 52 catches. Peoples also repeated as a return specialist, racking up 376 yards on 26 combined kickoff and punt returns.

Junior kicker Trace Butcher (Dacula, Ga.) earned his second All-Mountain award as he finished second on the team in scoring with 76 points. He converted 43 extra points and made 11 field goals, becoming the all-time leader in field goals for a career (37). Senior offensive lineman Noah Sage (Jonesville, Va.) also did strong work at the other guard spot as the Wasps rushed for 11 touchdowns and 4.0 yards per carry.

On the defensive side of the ball, the All-Mountain Division Team was highlighted by four E&H defensive backs, giving all five of the Wasps' starters a spot on the teams. Fifth-year Addison Knicely (Mount Crawford, Va.) returned to the team after leading the squad with 72 tackles and adding three interceptions, six break-ups and a blocked kick. Junior Jacob Robinson (Warrenton, Va.) had 71 stops with a total of 10 passes defended (six INT, four break-ups) while junior Shawn Collins (Salem, Va.) finished with 38 tackles, six interceptions, eight additional break-ups and a blocked kick. Junior Chendrick Cann (Pinellas Park, Fla.) rounded out the group, adding 36 tackles, three interceptions and seven swats.

The defensive line saw sophomore Ean Rhea (Glade Spring, Va.) repeat his All-Mountain performance from a year ago, as he posted 41 tackles including 12 for a loss, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception. Junior Elijah Harper (Anderson, S.C.) led the squad with 15.5 tackles in the backfield as he totaled 60 stops on the year and contributed a forced and recovered fumble, an interception and a break-up.
