Cam Abshire Receives Touchdown Club of Richmond Honor

RICHMOND, Va. – Emory & Henry University sophomore wide receiver Cam Abshire (Roanoke, Va.) has added another award to his resume for the 2024 season. The Touchdown Club of Richmond announced its small college awards for the 2024 football season with Abshire being selected as Offensive End of the Year (wide receiver/tight end).

The Northside High School product adds state position player of the year honors to his All-South Atlantic Conference and D2CCA All-Super Region II Second-Team accolades. He caught 51 passes for a league-high 13 receiving touchdowns and 1,057 yards on his way to being named the SAC Statistical Champion in receiving yards per game (97.0).

Abshire finished the season ranked tied for sixth in the nation in receiving touchdowns, 10th in total receiving yards and 11th in receiving yards per game. His touchdowns and total receiving yardage marks both placed him second all-time in program history for single-season achievements.

Abshire eclipsed the 100-yard mark in receiving on five separate occasions and scored at least one touchdown in eight of the Wasps' 11 contests for the season. He went for a career-high eight catches for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the season finale victory over Newberry, garnering SAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition.

The Touchdown Club of Richmond is a 501(c)(3), sports-social organization, based in Richmond, Virginia. The club promotes the best interests of the American game of football and sports in general, with the predominant purpose being to recognize worthy athletes for their accomplishments.

The club's membership compiles a ballot from all the football-playing colleges and universities in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The ballot is then distributed to the club's membership for voting to determine the annual award winners.
