Bridgewater Men's Basketball Spoils Emory & Henry's Senior Day, 76-63, Saturday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Bridgewater College Men's Basketball Team (11-10, 6-7 ODAC) saw four players reach double figures in scoring as it defeated Emory & Henry College (2-19, 0-12 ODAC) by a 76-63 score Saturday at the John Rutledge King Center. The game served as Senior Day as the Wasps honored their eight seniors prior to the contest.

The teams battled back and forth to a 16-16 tie at the 9:50 mark of the first half. The squads traded buckets before Bridgewater extended the lead to 10 (22-32) after a three-pointer by Benaiah Wise. The Wasps would draw back within six (28-34) at halftime after senior forward Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.) drove into the lane for an easy layup.

Eagles would lead the entire second half charging behind Ed Reddick who scored 11 of his team-high 17 points during the second half. Wasps drew within eight (38-46) after freshman guard Ryan Gravely (Austinville, Va.) hit a three pointer just under the 14-minute mark. Eagles would lead by 17 at one point, but finish the game with a 13 point margin (76-63).

Senior forward Charles Smith (Fayetteville, N.C.) led the Wasps with 14 points and six rebounds, while Mullins added 13 points, nine rebounds, and 4 assists. Senior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) contributed eight points, two assists, two blocks, and two steals. As a team E&H shot 46.2% (24-for-52) and hit six shots from beyond the arc. The Eagles forced the Wasps into 18 turnovers.

Bridgewater saw four players reach double figures in scoring led by Reddick's 17. Daniel McClain had a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) while Tavis Stapelton registered 16 points and seven boards. Zach Hunter added 10 points as well. Eagles shot 42.9% (30-for-61) and held a 50-34 advantage on points in the paint. BC also outscored E&H 21-3 in points off turnovers and 17-9 on second chance points.

Emory & Henry will host Guilford College on Wednesday evening in an ODAC matchup. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
