Bluefield Men’s Basketball Takes Care Of Emory & Henry, 88-60, Monday Evening

BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Bluefield College Men's Basketball Team (6-5) hit 11 three-pointers as it defeated visiting Emory & Henry College (1-9) by an 88-60 score at Dome Gymnasium on the Bluefield campus.

The Wasps started off the game, leading 6-2 with 17:17 on the clock. The Rams then went on a 26-5 run covering the next 7:48 of the contest for a 28-11 advantage. Bluefield extended the margin to 20 (45-25) at the half.

Midway through the second half, E&H was able to get within 15 points at 57-41 but BC responded with an 8-2 run to push the margin to 64-43. The Rams would go on to lead by as much as 31 points down the stretch but the Wasps scored five of the final seven points in the game to make the final score 88-60.

Six different Bluefield players would reach double figures in scoring led by Devin Page who was seven for nine from the field for 21 points and added six rebounds. Mike Colling had 15 points, hitting five three-pointers while Kyle Grisby had 11 points and eight assists. As a team, the Rams shot 50 percent (27-of- 54) from the field and added 16 points off turnovers.

Emory & Henry was paced by sophomore guards Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) and Ryan Gravley (Austinville, Va.) who chipped in 18 points and 15 points, respectively. Turner finished the game with nine rebounds while Gravley hit seven-of-eight free throws. As a team, E&H was just 31.3 percent (20-of-64) from the field and managed to hit only 1-of-17 three-pointers. The Wasps had 14 offensive rebounds and scored 32 points in the paint.

The Wasps will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday when it travels to Greensboro, North Carolina to face the Quakers of Guilford College. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
