Randolph Men’s Basketball Uses Strong Second Half To Defeat Emory & Henry, 72-63, Thursday Evening

EMORY, Va. – The Randolph College Men's Basketball Team (12-12, 6-9 ODAC) shot 52.2 percent in the second half en route to a 72-63 win over Emory & Henry College (5-19, 4-11 ODAC) Thursday evening at Bob Johnson Court.

Randolph got out to an early 8-4 lead but Emory & Henry responded with an 11-4 run to go up 15-8 at the 12:37. The Wasps pushed their advantage to 30-20 before the WildCats closed the half on a 12-2 run to tie things up at 32 points apiece at the intermission.

RC started the second half with a 13-2 run, going up 45-34 with 15:28 left to play. The Wasps trimmed the margin to one thanks to a 20-10 scoring spurt but the WildCats scored the next nine points to push their advantage back to double digits (64-54). E&H got within six points with 1:06 left to go but would get no closer as Randolph went on to win by a 72-63 score.

Seth Wimbish led all players with 18 points and added three rebounds while Zach Desgain tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Corey Brown and Gordon Rogo each notched 10 points and five rebounds while Reid Jacoby recorded eight points, five rebounds and five assists.

Emory & Henry was paced by junior guard Kevin Anzenberger's (Concord, N.C.) double-double of 11 points and career-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) and sophomore forward Brandon Self (Norfolk, Va.) each had 12 points while Turner chipped in three rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. Freshman forward Chase Branscomb (Bristol, Tenn.) had eight points off the bench as well.

The Wasps will conclude the regular season on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., when they host the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. R-MC is currently ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com
