LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University Men's Basketball Team (6-8, 2-3 ODAC) hit the game-winning shot with 4.2 seconds remaining to squeak out a 64-63 win over Emory & Henry College (9-5, 3-2 ODAC) Wednesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

How It Happened
- The two teams went back and forth for an 11-all tie at the 11:47 mark of the first half. With the score 23-21 and 6:07 on the clock, the Generals went on a 14-4 run to extend their advantage to 37-25 going into the final 90 seconds of the period.
- Washington and Lee would lead 37-27 at the half after an Emory & Henry layup closed the scoring of the opening 20 minutes.
- Coming out of the break, W&L pushed the margin to 13 (42-39) but E&H scored the next nine to pull the margin to 42-38 with 14:28 to play. The Generals went back up by as much as nine later in the half but the Wasps responded with a 13-4 run to tie the game at 51 with 8:27 left.
- A two-minute scoring drought by both teams was broken when E&H senior guard Ryan Gravley (Austinville, Va.) tied things at 61 with 1:29 to go and the Wasps got their first lead since the 13:07 mark of the first half when junior forward Chase Branscomb (Bristol, Tenn.) made a layup with 32 ticks on the clock.
- Washington and Lee regained the advantage, 64-63, on a three-pointer from the corner by Andy Kleinlein with 4.2 seconds remaining. The Wasps would have a final opportunity as time expired to claim the win, but the shot was off the mark and the Generals squeaked out the win.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) had 17 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead E&H.
- Sophomore forward Aaron Ferguson (Princeton, W.Va.) came off the bench to contribute 12 points and five board while sophomore forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) put up eight points, 12 rebounds and a block.
- Branscomb finished the game with eight points and nine rebounds while sophomore guard Clif Conley (Galax, Va.) and Gravley had seven and four points, respectively.
Washington and Lee Individual Leaders
- Kleinlein had a game-high 23 points and six rebounds to lead the Generals while Clayton Murtha joined him with 20 points and nine boards.
- Devin Kearns put up 13 points, five assists and three rebounds as well for W&L.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 27-for-66 (40.9%) for the game but struggled from long range, making just 15 percent (3-for-20) of its attempts. The Wasps only made it to the free throw line 10 times in the contest, scoring six points at the stripe.
- Washington and Lee finished with a shooting percentage of 47.1 from the field (24-for-51) and hit five three-pointers. The Generals went 11-for-19 (57.9%) at the line.
- The Wasps led 39-33 on rebounding including a 13-6 advantage on the offensive glass. E&H outscored W&L 13-10 on second-chance points.
- Emory & Henry used a 36-16 lead on points in the paint and a 14-4 margin on points off turnovers to overcome the second half deficit and keep the result in question until the final play.
