Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Races Past Hampden-Sydney, 92-67, Saturday Afternoon At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (12-7, 6-4 ODAC) hit 11 three-pointers and shot 52 percent from the field in a 92-67 conference win over Hampden-Sydney College (7-12, 3-7 ODAC) Saturday afternoon at home.

How It Happened
- The squads opened the game close with HSC leading, 5-4, at the 18:17 mark of the first half. Emory & Henry went on a 13-2 run to take the lead, 17-7, which it would retain for the rest of the contest.
- Later in the period, the Wasps used a 15-6 scoring spurt to push a 26-17 lead out to 41-23. The run covered 6:35 and set E&H up for a 45-30 halftime lead.
- Coming out of the break, the two teams traded baskets back and forth as the Wasps slowly built their lead to 22 points (70-48) with 10:23 left to play. Up by 19, Emory & Henry went on an 18-7 run for a 31-point, 90-59 advantage with under two minutes to play. The Tigers scored eight of the final 10 points of the game, but would only get as close as 25, as the Wasps rolled to the 92-67 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman guard Colin Molden (Apex, N.C.) led all players with 20 points off the bench, going 9-for-15 from the field, and adding three assists and three steals.
- Junior guard John Shelor (Giles, Va.) had 17 points, connecting on a trio of three-pointers while sophomore guard Clif Conley (Galax, Va.) added 11 points and three boards off the bench.
- Senior guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) and sophomore forward Aaron Ferguson (Princeton, W.Va.) put up nine points and two rebounds each while junior forward Chase Branscomb (Bristol, Tenn.) had eight points and eight boards.
- Senior guard Ryan Gravley (Austinville, Va.) tallied seven points, five assists and two rebounds while sophomore forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) chipped in five points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Hampden-Sydney Individual Leaders
- Jake Duncan notched 12 points off the bench for the Tigers, going seven-for-seven from the free throw line and adding two rebounds, two assists and a block.
- Logan Samuels, Malik Crute and Kevin Quinn each had nine points in the game while Guilherme Guimaraes tacked on seven points and eight boards.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 52.2 percent (35-for-67) on the afternoon and hit 11 three-pointers. The Wasps went eight-for-12 (66.7%) from beyond the arc in the second half alone and finished the game with an 11-for-14 (78.6%) performance at the free throw line.
- Hampden-Sydney made 21-of-55 (38.2%) of its field goal attempts including six three-pointers out of 21 (28.6%). The Tigers put up a 70.4 percent (19-for-27) effort at the charity stripe.
- The Wasps held a commanding 42-29 rebounding advantage and a 12-10 lead on offensive rebonds.
- E&H led 42-22 on points in the paint and scored 18 points off 14 HSC turnovers. The Tigers were unable to convert any points out of the Wasps seven miscues.
- Both teams saw positive output from their benches with Emory & Henry edging Hampden-Sydney, 46-40, in points scored by non-starters.
