Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Stings Randolph-Macon, 75-65, For Sole Possession Of ODAC Lead

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (16-1, 8-0 ODAC) now sits alone atop the Old Dominion Athletic Conference standings after earning a 75-65 win over Randolph-Macon College (13-4, 7-1 ODAC). The Wasps saw four players reach double figures in scoring en route to the victory.

E&H also celebrated Alumni Day Saturday and honored members of the 1987-88 NCAA Division III Sweet 16 Team with a luncheon and a special halftime presentation.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry opened up a 12-5 lead early in the first half and pushed the advantage to 20-11 with 10 minutes on the clock.
-  The Wasps extended the margin to as much as 18 (38-20) thanks to a 12-2 run covering four minutes late in the period. Randolph-Macon was able to pull within 38-24 at the intermission.
- Returning from the break, E&H stretched its lead to 45-27 at the 18:07 mark of the second. The Yellow Jackets scored the next 19 points in a period that spanned just less than three minutes to go up for the first time since the 18:06 mark of the first half, 46-45.
- Emory & Henry immediately responded with a 12-2 run to retake the lead, 57-48, with 9:23 to play. RMC was able to close the gap to three with 7:49 to go but the Wasps took control in the final six minutes on their way to the 75-65 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior forward Chase Branscomb (Bristol, Tenn.) put up a game-high 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting and nearly made it a double-double with nine rebounds.
- Junior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) notched a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds while sophomore guard Daniel Spencer (Concord, N.C.) had 15 points and four boards off the bench.
- Freshman guard Tharon Suggs (Raleigh, N.C.) tacked on 14 points, four rebounds and three assists while senior guard John Shelor (Giles, Va.) had five points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Randolph-Macon Individual Leaders
- Montese Adams placed the Yellow Jackets with 17 points and nine rebounds.
- Daniel Noe went five-for-seven from long range for 17 points and added three assists and three steals while David Funderburg tacked on eight points.

 A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 30-for-58 (51.7%) for the game with a trio of three-point baskets. The Wasps were unusually quiet at the free throw line, making just 57.1 percent (12-of-21) of their attempts.
- Randolph-Macon hit 41.4 percent (24-for-58) of its field goals, connecting on 10 shots from long range. The Yellow Jackets only reached the line 11 times, converting their attempts for seven points (63.6%).
- E&H doubled RMC up on the boards, pulling down 44 rebounds to 22 for the Yellow Jackets. The Wasps also led 15-6 on second-chance points.
- Emory & Henry also dominated in the paint, 46-28.
- Randolph-Macon held an 18-16 lead in points off turnovers, making the most of E&H's 13 miscues.
