John Shelor named ODAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's John Shelor has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the fourth time in five weeks that an E&H player has been honored by the league office.

The senior from Giles, Virginia paced No. 21 Emory & Henry last week as it earned another pair of conference victories. The Wasps defeated Randolph College on the road by an 85-74 score Wednesday and took down Bridgewater College (90-73) Saturday at home. Dung the stretch, Shelor averaged 22.5 points per game, shooting 53.1 percent from the field with a 53.8 percent (7-for-13) performance from beyond the arc.

Wednesday against the WildCats, Shelor went 9-for-17 from the field en route to 21 points, adding four rebounds and four assists. He put up 24 points on Saturday against Bridgewater with six three-pointers to go along with three rebounds two assists and two steals for his seventh 20-point game of the season.

Emory & Henry (18-1, 10-0 ODAC) has tied its best-ever start to the conference season with 10 wins, with the previous occurrence coming in the 1992-93 campaign. The Wasps boast their best record through 19 games in the NCAA Division III era, which began in 1973-74.

No. 21 E&H will visit Roanoke College (12-7, 5-5 ODAC) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Wasps took the first meeting between the two schools, 75-73, earlier in the month.
