SALEM, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team has seen four of its players selected to the 2018 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Friday. It is the first time in program history that four E&H players have been named all-conference and marks back-to-back years that the Wasps have had multiple players honored by the league. The All-ODAC teams are selected by the conference's 12 head coaches.
Senior forward Chase Branscomb (Bristol, Tenn.) was placed on the All-ODAC First Team while senior guard John Shelor (Giles, Va.) and senior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) earned second-team accolades. Sophomore guard Colin Molden (Apex, N.C.) was tabbed to the third team.
Branscomb, who has started all 25 games of the season, leads the squad in scoring at 16.6 points per game. He has reached double figures in scoring 21 times and hit the 20-point mark on seven occasions. His season-high of 34 points against Lynchburg on January 18 marked the first time in over three years that a Wasp has gone for 30 in a game. Branscomb is averaging 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest with 10 double-doubles to his credit.
Shelor has also started every game this season and is second on the team in scoring at 14.9 points per outing. He leads the Wasps in three-point field goals made (52), three-point field goal percentage (41.3%) and free throw percentage (85.2%). Shelor has scored 10 or more points in 20 contests this year, with eight 20-point games. He also averages 3.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Wynn is another full-season starter for the Wasps and is top rebounder in the league at 10.5 boards per game. He averages 10.0 points per contest and has put together 11 of E&H's 25 double-doubles. Wynn's season-highs are 20 points (at Berry; Dec. 15) and 18 rebounds (vs. Bridgewater; Jan. 27). He also has 13 double-digit scoring contests and 16 double-digit rebounding games to his credit.
Molden, the 2017 ODAC Rookie of the Year, earned all-league honors despite missing the final eight games of the regular season. He averaged 14.9 points per game through 17 contests, hitting double figures 13 times and going over 20 points on six occasions. He has season-highs of 25 points (at Hampden-Sydney; Jan. 13) and 12 assists (twice) and put together a pair of double-double games.
Emory & Henry, seeded fourth in the ODAC Tournament, will play #12 Randolph College in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The Wasps defeated the WildCats, 85-74, in their only meeting of the regular season.
