INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – By virtue of its first-ever Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship, the Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team has received one of 43 automatic qualifier bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament, NCAA officials announced Monday.

The Wasps (22-6) will travel to Newport News, Virginia for the first two rounds of the tournament, hosted by Christopher Newport University. E&H will face off against Franklin & Marshall College (20-6) out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Friday, March 2. Christopher Newport will play Lancaster Bible College in the first round of the tournament also on Friday and the two winners will meet Saturday evening with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.

Franklin & Marshall fell in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Tournament, but earned one of the 21 coveted at-large bids to the tournament.

Christopher Newport was another at-large selection with a 21-6 overall record, coming up short in the Capital Athletic Conference title game. Lancaster Bible won the North Eastern Athletic Conference championship with a 23-5 overall record.

The Wasps were the only member of the ODAC to reach the field of 64, but are joined on the national stage by three non-conference opponents in Berry College (11-17), Maryville (Tenn.) College (22-6) and The College of Wooster (21-6). E&H finished as the No. 4 ranked team in the NCAA Division III South Region.

This marks the first time since 1993 that the Wasps have reached the NCAA Tournament and the sixth time in program history. E&H made the Sweet 16 in both 1988 and 1993 and also had national postseason appearances in 1990, 1991 and 1992.
