EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team (5-0, 0-0 ODAC) overcame a nine-point deficit with eight minutes to go in the second half on its way to a 79-74 win over William Peace University (1-3, 0-0 USA South) Wednesday at home.
Junior guard Colin Molden (Apex, N.C.) put the Wasps on his back, scoring 35 points in the victory. It is the first time an E&H player has reached the 30-point mark since Chase Branscomb tallied 34 against Lynchburg College on January 18, 2018. It was the most points scored by a Wasp since Camillo Weinz, achieved went for 35 on January 19, 2008 against Guilford College.

How It Happened
- The Pacers came out of the gate on a 16-4 run but the Wasps answered with a 12-2 scoring spurt to get within two, 18-16, at the 12:20 mark. Emory & Henry tied the game at 21-all with 10:58 to go before the intermission on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Tharon Suggs (Raleigh, N.C.), but three-straight makes by William Peace made it a 27-21 game.
- The two squads traded buckets for the rest of the half with WPU going into the locker room with a 42-40 advantage.
- Coming out of the break, the Wasps and Pacers continued to go jab for jab with Emory & Henry taking its first lead of the game, 48-47, on a jumper by senior forward Andrew Davis (Wake Forest, N.C.) with 14:23 on the clock.
- William Peace answered with a 15-6 run to go up 62-54 and would lead by nine (66-57) with just under eight minutes to play.
- Down by eight with less than five to go, the Wasps scored seven in a row and extended their run to 17-4 for the 79-74 win. E&H took the lead for good with 25 seconds remaining on a triple by Suggs and sealed the victory with a steal and a pair of three throws with seven seconds left.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Molden put up 22 of his 35 points in the opening 20 minutes, going 7-for-15 from the field, with four three-pointers. He added six more field goals in the second half and finished with seven rebounds and five assists.
- Suggs scored 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting for the afternoon while senior guard Jarris Hendricks (Mechanicsville, Va.) had 10 points and eight boards.
- Davis and senior forward Alic Wynn (Asheville, N.C.) each posted six points and five rebounds.
William Peace Individual Leaders
- John Ingram led a quintet of Pacers with 10 or more points as he had 17 markers and three rebounds while Donolly Tyrell notched 15 points.
- Trey Bryant had a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and four steals while Mikal Gaylord contributed 11 points, four assists and three rebounds.
- Samuel Arnold notched 11 points off the bench for WPU.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 45.6 percent (31-for-68) from the field with 10 three-pointers and scored 16 second-chance points.
- William Peace shot 27-for-62 (43.5%) from the floor with 10 triples of its own. The Pacers were 10-for-17 at the stripe.
- E&H held a 39-38 rebounding margin and an 11-10 lead on the offensive glass.
- Both teams scored 15 points off turnovers while the Wasps posted a 34-30 advantage on points in the paint.
